冷却塔排气口噪声比进气口噪声高5~10dB(A)，频谱特性是以低频为主的连续谱，属于低频噪声。冷却塔内循环热水从淋水装置下落时，与塔底接水盘中的积水撞击产生的淋水声属于高频噪声，淋水声的大小与淋水高度和单位时间的水流量有关。冷却塔整体噪声为以低频为主的连续谱，没有突出的噪声峰值，一般在31.5~2000Hz之间，噪声级为55~85dB(A)。大型冷却塔的噪声属于中高频稳态噪声，声源“标称声级”在80db(A)左右，冷却塔噪声的治理目标原则上应是将受噪声干扰的受声点噪声级控制在相应于当地环境的噪声国家标准以内。冷却塔通风隔音罩适用在冷却塔附件有高层居民用户的场所，声屏障只能适用在声影区有居民用户的地方（敏感源低于声屏障）。
